Treat the birthday guy or gal in your life to a different kind of cake: a cookie tower!
When I asked a coworker for his birthday baking request -- "It can be anything! Pie, cake, cookies, ice cream dessert, you name it." -- he responded with, "Those oatmeal cookies. You know. The awesome ones."
"Are you sure you don't want a cake?"
"Nope, just those cookies."
Wanting to please the birthday boy and still make something worthy of a special occasion, I got a little creative and made a cookie tower, topped with -- what else -- a birthday candle :)
Not everyone is a cake lover (tsk tsk), but that doesn't mean a simple cookie request can't be grand!
