And the winner is...

Us!  Because we had ourselves a pretty killer Oscars party.  Festive decor, check.

Sweatpants, check.  Ballot tally sheets, check.  Plennnnnnnnnnnty of judging and cackling (poor Matt), check.

Delicious and themed spread of food?  Check, check, and check!

Our gathering was a little smaller this year, so a few of the dishes did double duty as far as covering movies.  This was our fourth year hosting and I must say that it was, by far, the easiest in terms of coming up with foods for each Best Picture nominee.  Movies set in France, Hawaii, Mississippi, and NYC, and movies about baseball, horses, and... did anyone really know what Tree of Life was about?

Here's the breakdown:

Hugo & Midnight in Paris - grapes, brie, and crackers
War Horse & Tree of Life - carrots, celery, and dip
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - one large apple
The Help - "fried" chicken nuggets
The Descendants - teriyaki shrimp and pineapple skewers
Moneyball - Crackerjacks
The Artist - chocolate popcorn snack mix

Totally delish and even rather balanced.  Whoever says entertaining can't be easy, healthy (for the most part), and tasty clearly hasn't met us.  Or our festive envelope napkins.

My highlights:
  • Best dressed: Jessica Chastain.  Stunnnnnning.
  • Best speech: Meryl Streep.  Honorable mention: Octavia Spencer.
  • Best moment: Jim Rash, writer, Jolie-ing on stage accepting the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Who were your favorites?  Check back tomorrow for the first of two recipes from the award-worthy spread -- shrimp and pineapple skewers!
