This "recipe" is nothing new, but it's a tried and true favorite that's always a hit at parties big and small. Plus, any dip that's served with fruit is automatically a freebie in my nutritional book.
5. It's inexpensive -- under $5.
4. Requires only 2 ingredients, both of which are common in all grocery stores.
3. It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.
2. No oven needed. (Good when it's going to be 90 degrees outside, right?)
And the number 1 reason why you should -- and most certainly will -- love this dip?
1. It goes well with anything!
I mean it, anything. I'd eat cardboard if it were slathered with this nectar of the gods. Fruit is the obvious choice (cherries, bananas, orange slices, any kind of berry, pineapple, grapes, etc. etc.), but don't be boxed in by the name of the recipe.
Cookies (ahem) are made even more decadent with a dunk. Or try graham crackers, vanilla wafers and classic chocolate chip. Pretzels and chips would be great for a salty and sweet one-two punch.
I could go on and on. You know this.
But I won't. (Was that a sigh of relief?) Because I've got packing to do.
You see, I'm determined to be the first one ready to go today because, no matter what, I always manage to find something else to do before we leave. I announce, "I'll be ready in exactly 3 minutes," which really means 13. Yikes.
So, what I'm saying is that you could make this dip and I'd need another 10 minutes before I'd be ready to walk out the door.
Matt is nodding emphatically if he's reading this.
Happy Memorial Day, everyone, and safe travels! Be sure to thank a serviceman or woman!

Marshmallow Fluff Fruit Dip
-makes about 2 cu
1 8-ounce block of cream cheese, at room temperature (I used 1/3 fat with success)
1 7-ounce jar marshmallow fluff
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add fluff and vanilla and beat until mixture is well blended. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
